Holiday Happenings in Las Vegas & Henderson

There are several spectacular holiday events taking place in the Las Vegas Valley over the next few weeks. Two of these involve holiday light festivals.
The first one takes place in Henderson at the ethel’s chocolates cactus garden and chocolate factory, which is located at 2 Cactus Dr. For those locals that have never been to the chocolate factory, now would be a great time to take the entire family. Besides all of the delightful things that you can eat, they have again decorated the entire cactus garden with holiday lights. Over 300 species of plants can be found on the grounds. This is truly a annual winter celebration for all who attend. The garden is open from 5:00 – 10:00 PM daily through January 1. Admission is free. Santa Claus will make daily appearances and entertainment will be provided by students from local schools.
The second one is in Las Vegas at the Springs Preserve. This holiday season they are having their second annual Winter Lights Festival, as a half-million lights create colorful and breathtaking displays. Guests will enjoy entertainment from roaming performance groups, carriage rides, visits with Santa Claus and Theater Las Vegas’ original puppet show “Dickens Done Over.” Holiday inspired treats and green gift options will be available throughout the Preserve as well.
The 4th Annual Las Vegas Marathon is all set for this upcoming weekend on December 7, 2008. Both the Marathon and the Half Marathon will be starting at 6:07 AM. The full marathon will be capped at ten thousand participants. The half marathon will also be capped at 10,000.
Experience the rush of adrenaline on the Start line in front of Mandalay Bay when the gun goes off to Elvis’ “Viva Las Vegas” and fireworks. Ideal weather and a loop course with a gradual mid-race incline followed by a downhill sprint to the finish line set the stage for exhilarating Races designed to set and break records, and shatter personal bests.
